Twinkle Khanna takes stand for Kareena Kapoor Khan (Twinkle Khanna/Wikipedia)( Kareena Kapoor Khan/ Wikipedia)

MUMBAI, MAHARASHTRA: Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his home, on January 16, 2025, leading to significant injuries that required immediate medical attention.

The actor was subsequently hospitalized and underwent surgery before being discharged on January 21, 2025.

In the wake of this terrifying ordeal, the media and public reaction took a strange turn, with rumors emerging about the actor’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan (also known as Bebo), which Twinkle Khanna, wife of actor Akshay Kumar, has now vehemently addressed.

Twinkle Khanna slams unwarranted blame

In a column she recently wrote for The Times of India, Khanna took the opportunity to stand up for Kareena, who had been unfairly blamed by some sections of the public following the attack.

She revealed that ridiculous rumors suggested Kareena wasn’t home during the incident or was “too intoxicated” to help her husband.

Khanna, however, quickly pointed out the absence of any credible evidence supporting these claims.

“People just enjoyed shifting the blame onto the wife — an all-too-familiar pattern,” she wrote.

Khanna highlighted a troubling trend where people unfairly hold wives, especially those in the public eye, responsible for things that have nothing to do with them.

Citing several examples, Khanna criticized how society often scapegoats’ women in high-profile relationships.

She noted, “When Virat Kohli gets out, Anushka gets booed,” referring to the unwarranted criticism fans directed at cricketer Virat Kohli’s wife, actress Anushka Sharma, after Kohli’s performance on the field.

Twinkle Khanna calls out blame culture

Khanna highlighted that this trend extends beyond celebrity couples. She pointed out that people often blame wives for their husbands’ weight changes, personality traits, and even hair loss.

The actress-turned-author concluded her column with a striking observation, saying, “In this context, I suppose it’s accurate to say that behind every man, loser or leader, stands a woman who is about to be vilified, at the drop of a hat, or with it firmly on her head.”

In the aftermath of the attack, Saif Ali Khan has taken steps to ensure the safety of his family, reportedly hiring heavy security to protect his home.

He got discharged from the hospital on January 21 after surgeons treated his injuries.
