MUMBAI, MAHARASHTRA: Prajakta Koli, one of India’s most beloved digital creators and actors, recently opened up about a deeply emotional memory from her childhood.
Fighting back tears, Koli expressed her gratitude towards her parents for their sacrifices and reflected on the struggles that shaped her journey to success.

Actress recalls childhood financial struggles and her parents’ sacrifices
Koli, widely known for her channel ‘MostlySane,’ recently became emotional while recalling a difficult period from her childhood.
Koli recalled, “I remember when I was 12 years old, I came back from school or tuition. Mumma and Papa made me sit with love. I remember that moment because I almost felt like an adult, the way they spoke to me. They said, ‘Aabu, we are struggling a little bit this month, so we’ll have to break your piggy bank.’ I was like, ‘Okay.'”
She went on, “They told me, ‘It’s okay, we’ll get you a new one.’ It’s very emotional for me now, but I don’t remember the incident as a sad one. I actually remember it as a very regular one. Now that I’m an adult, I’m probably at the same age you were when you told me this. So, I want to ask you, ‘Was that tough?'”
Manoj Koli, her father, replied, “Yes… At that time, I was working in a multi-level marketing company. It was a new trend in India back then. In 1999-2000, I invested a lot of money into that company—around ₹11 lakh, all my savings—and the company went bankrupt. After that, I was at a loss… During that time, I drove a taxi, but nothing was working.”
“I had no money for the monthly expenses at home. I tried my best to get help from relatives and friends, but didn’t receive any. My last option was to break your piggy bank, and that amount helped us with the expenses for that month. I can say with pride that Prajakta’s support in managing our family started from then,” Manoj said recalling.
