BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Kate Cassidy, the grieving girlfriend of the late Liam Payne, has disclosed that she received death threats and harsh comments from the pop star’s fans after attending his funeral in November 2024.
The 25-year-old influencer faced criticism for her outfit choice, with numerous One Direction fans bombarding her with online abuse.

Kate Cassidy opens up about receiving death threats
Cassidy revealed that she has been receiving death threats from the singer’s loyal fanbase. In an interview with The Sun, the influencer explained, “Yeah, I have some [death threats] and some of my DMs are, well, I can’t even put it into words exactly.”

In an open interview with the outlet, Cassidy revealed that the constant harassment led her to delete her social media accounts. She also mentioned, “That’s why I had to delete social media for a bit, and still sometimes I’ll take a break from it.”

Fans of the late pop star labeled her a “gold digger” and hurled other hurtful accusations, with much of the criticism centered around her appearance at the funeral.
Cassidy, who had been with Payne since 2022, spoke about the emotional impact the online abuse has had on her. Despite the harshness, she was able to rise above the attacks, attributing her strength to the lessons Payne had taught her.

The online trolls also targeted Cassidy’s appearance at the funeral, criticizing her outfit and makeup. In response to the backlash, Cassidy explained that she had “wanted to just look beautiful for my boyfriend one last time” and remarked that the service for the singer was “beautiful.”

Cassidy also rejected allegations that she was with him for money or fame, describing their relationship as “authentic and real.”
Accompanied by her friend Damian Hurley, the son of model Elizabeth Hurley, Cassidy attended Payne’s funeral at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, on November 20, wearing a black trench coat and high-heeled boots.
