MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry is taking a stand against a recent court order that could bring her husband, actor Orlando Bloom, into a legal battle involving the family of Carl Westcott over a Montecito mansion.

The dispute, which has been unfolding since 2020, has now intensified with a subpoena requesting Bloom’s testimony during the damages phase of the trial, set for February 25.

The Westcott family, including Carl Westcott’s sons, has claimed that Bloom was involved in managing the property after Perry’s purchase, and they are seeking to involve him in the proceedings.

However, Perry’s legal team is pushing back, arguing that the subpoena is unnecessary and little more than a publicity stunt aimed at prolonging the case.

In court documents obtained by Daily Mail, Perry’s lawyers have vehemently argued that Bloom’s testimony is irrelevant to the case, particularly since he had no involvement in the sale contract, or the damages Perry is claiming.

They argue that Bloom has no knowledge of the issues at hand and that the focus should remain on expert testimony from contractors.

The pop star’s legal team has requested that the court quash the subpoena or exclude Bloom from the trial.

“It was one thing to seek testimony from Perry despite her limited knowledge of relevant facts; it is another to involve Mr. Bloom, who has no demonstrated knowledge of any relevant facts,” Perry’s attorneys stated in the court filing.

The legal saga began in 2020 when Perry agreed to purchase Westcott’s 9,000-square-foot Montecito mansion for $11.25 million.

Shortly after the deal was signed, Westcott, who is now 85 and battling Huntington’s disease, tried to back out of the agreement, claiming he was under the influence of painkillers when he signed.

However, the court upheld the contract, and Perry was officially declared the legal owner in 2023.

Despite owning the property, Perry is now pursuing $6 million in damages related to repairs and lost rental income.

The Westcott family has disputed these claims, calling them “egregious” and unfair.

As the trial approaches, tensions are high, with Westcott’s family accusing Perry of trying to “squeeze every last dollar” from them at the expense of Carl Westcott’s legacy.

A family friend criticized Perry’s legal actions, suggesting that she lacks empathy in her pursuit of damages.

This isn’t Perry’s first brush with real estate controversies. She previously battled a group of nuns over the purchase of a Los Angeles convent, a case that also attracted significant media attention.

With the trial to address damages set for February 2025, both parties are preparing for another round in court.

Perry and Bloom face high stakes as they fight to resolve the dispute once and for all while protecting their reputation and their dream home.

The case’s outcome could set a precedent for similar legal disputes, making it a closely watched saga for fans, legal experts, and real estate professionals alike.
