DEHRADUN, UTTARAKHAND: In a tragic hit-and-run incident on Wednesday, March 12, a high-speed Mercedes car with a Chandigarh number plate ran over four laborers, killing them on the spot, and injured two others in Dehradun.
The accident took place near Sai Temple, on Rajpur Road, in the vicinity of Doon Hospital.

SSP Ajay Singh provides details of Dehradun hit-and-run
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, Ajay Singh, the vehicle hit four workers and a scooter at around 8 p.m.
“This incident happened around 8 in the evening at the Old Mussoorie road. A speeding vehicle hit a few people, in which four people died…We have tracked down 11-12 cars in this incident. We are hoping to track down the driver of the vehicle soon,” said Singh.

The authorities rushed the four laborers to Doon Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The police identified the deceased as Mansharam (30) and Ranjit (35), both residents of Baba Bazar in the Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh.
The police have yet to confirm the identities of the other two victims.
Eyewitnesses to the horrific accident reported that the driver was speeding the Mercedes at an alarmingly high rate.
Driver flees after Mercedes strikes laborers and scooter in Dehradun
After the car struck the laborers, it subsequently collided with a scooter. Dhaniram and Mohammad Shakib, who were riding the scooter, suffered leg injuries and received treatment at the same hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene immediately after the incident, leaving behind a trail of devastation. Meanwhile, police teams have been deployed to locate and apprehend the driver, but he remains on the run.

SSP Singh confirmed that the driver fled from the spot along with the car after the incident. In response, police have been working tirelessly to track down the vehicle, and their investigation is ongoing.
As a result, the tragic accident has left the community in shock, with many calling for stricter traffic regulations to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Local authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the driver to come forward.
Thus, the search for the responsible driver continues as the investigation into the incident unfolds.
