24-year-old woman’s decomposed body found in her apartment
According to reports from Republic, the woman found deceased was identified as Deepa, who lived with her husband, Dhanraj, a cab driver, in a rented house in the Dabri area of Southwest Delhi.
The couple shared a two-year-old daughter, who was not present at the time of Deepa’s death. The crime came to light when Deepa’s mother visited the house to feed her pet parrots and noticed a foul smell.
Concerned, she informed Deepa’s father, who then contacted the police. A senior police officer reported, “Upon receiving the complaint, a police team rushed to the scene and foudn the flat locked.” Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered the house was locked.
After forcing entry, they conducted a search and found Deepa’s decomposed body concealed inside the bed in her bedroom, her mouth taped. The officer added, “The victim’s decomposed body was found concealed inside a bed in the bedroom.”
Reports released on January 4th claimed that sources said, “The decomposition and the manner in which the body was concealed suggest she was murdered about three days before being discovered.” The careful hiding of the body indicates premeditation.”
Police launch manhunt for husband in murder case
After Deepa’s father filed a complaint, the police reported that the couple had been married for five years and their two-year-old daughter was staying with maternal relatives at the time of the incident. The Dabri police station has filed a case under Section 103 (murder) of the BNS.
DCP Ankit Singh (Dwarka) stated, “Crime teams and FSL experts have thoroughly examined the scene. We are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.”
He further added, “Multiple teams have been formed to locate the husband, who has been missing since the crime and is the prime suspect.”
The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to track Dhanraj’s movements and have questioned several individuals to uncover the motive behind the crime.
A manhunt is ongoing for the absconding husband, and further details are expected once the post-mortem report is received.
