SC lawyer demands legal action against ‘Hafta Vasooli’
The complaint outlines several charges against Faruqui’s show, which debuted on February 14. Sachdeva has requested authorities to register an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 196, 299, and 353, along with the IT Act and other relevant laws.
According to her, ‘Hafta Vasooli‘ is “promoting vulgarity, insulting multiple religions, violating cultural values and polluting young minds & society.”

The controversy has caught the attention of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, which has also raised objections to the show. The organization issued a statement on X, calling for an immediate ban on ‘Hafta Vasooli.’
“We demand an immediate ban on #HaftaVasooli airing on Jio Hotstar! Munawar Faruqui uses inappropriate language in this show, which is unacceptable for public viewing. It degrades moral values. Streaming platforms must act responsibly,” the statement read.

‘Hafta Vasooli‘ is a satirical comedy show that presents political and cultural events through a newsroom-style format. It incorporates sharp social commentary, absurdity, and chaotic debates.
The show also features surprise guests in each episode. For instance, the first two episodes featured actors Sharib Hashmi, Vivian Dsena, and Saqib Saleem.
The show’s official description describes it as a “satirical newsroom comedy with Munawar Faruqui, packed with current events, absurdity, roasts, chaotic debates, sketches, and surprise guests!”
As the legal battle unfolds, the controversy surrounding ‘Hafta Vasooli‘ continues to fuel heated discussions about freedom of expression, comedy, and the responsibility of content creators to be sensitive to cultural and religious sentiments.
