In a recent interview with Filmfare on December 31, Bollywood actress Ananya Panday opened up about a troubling experience from her early career, revealing that a fake social media profile was created to spread false accusations about her.
During the interview, the actress was asked about her conversations with her therapist, where she discussed the pressures of public life and the impact of online trolling.

Ananya Panday reveals fake profile spread rumors about her
Ananya shared a particular incident that left her deeply shaken.
She explained that shortly after the release of her debut film in May 2019, a fake account was created by someone pretending to be a former schoolmate.
This account spread harmful rumors, accusing her of bullying and lying about her educational background.
During the interview, she recalled, “someone created like a fake profile at that time, and they, you know, they pretended to be like someone from my school and they were writing all these like horrible things that I bullied people and I did this and that it was actually no one, like it wasn’t anyone that I knew of.”
The actress expressed how the accusations quickly gained traction, with many people believing the false claims. “It was like just a random fake profile, but the problem was people were believing it.”
She explained, “They thought that I lied about my education, that I didn’t actually get into college and I actually had to come out there and like show my college certificate and be like, I, I did get it, like why would I lie about something like this?”
“I’m very honest that I didn’t eventually go and study, but I did get into college,” Ananya added.
Ananya also revealed the emotional toll the experience took on her, especially as a newcomer in the industry.
She admitted that the situation was tough, and she even wondered if those around her on set believed the rumors.
The actress continued, “And that those few weeks also, I used to find it very tough to like go on set and shoot because more than me, I think I was like, what if, what are people thinking about me, you know, like, what if the person behind the camera has read this article and do they think that I’m a liar?”
