A longstanding battle with cancer
Mellencamp stated that the tumors had been growing for at least six months, a finding that has left both her and her doctors deeply concerned.
She admitted that the latest diagnosis has been a difficult reality to process, but she remains determined to face the challenge head-on.
“For the last several weeks I’ve been dealing with severe and debilitating headaches,” she announced through her Instagram.
She added, “Yesterday the pain was unbearable and required hospitalization. After a CT scan and MRI, doctors found multiple tumors on my brain, which they believe have been growing for at least 6 months.”
This latest development comes as Mellencamp continues her battle with a brain tumor. Since being diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022, she has undergone multiple surgeries and treatments, frequently updating her followers on her health journey.

The 43-year-old ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ alum shared that two of the tumors will be “surgically removed” on Wednesday, February 12.
“The remaining smaller tumors will be dealt with via radiation at a later date,” she went on.
Mellencamp also expressed how “blessed” she feels to have the support of her “children, family, friends, doctors, nurses, and surgeons, who are doing everything possible to help me regain better health.”

Later taking to her Instagram Stories, Mellencamp shared a video of one of her friends taking an electric razor to her head before the surgery.

“My best look,” she sang, looking upbeat.
Raising awareness for health and early detection
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, the 43-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared a graphic photo of her cancer surgery scar on Instagram, reflecting on the 17 different melanoma spots she’s had removed over the years.

“It’s #WorldCancerDay so I’d like to remind you to get your skin checks scheduled,” Mellencamp wrote in the post.
The reality star also posted a clip from her recent appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, where she discussed her skin cancer diagnosis. “If this is your first time seeing this, I recently shared my full melanoma journey on @tscpodcast. Give it a listen when you have a chance,” she added in the caption.
“If it’s not your first time, I hope it’s a good reminder ❤️,” Mellencamp continued, asking, “Who’s making their appointment today?” and adding the hashtags #melanomaawareness #curemelanoma.
In the podcast clip, Mellencamp shared that she had a “ginormous patch” on the back of her shoulder since birth, and began noticing marks on her back. “They almost looked like sun spots … I didn’t take it seriously, plus I didn’t know that skin cancer was a big deal,” she explained.
“Pretty much throughout the next three years, I think I’ve had over 20 surgeries,” the TV personality added.
